Leadership Hart is designed to bring community members together to grow individually and collectively to make a difference in Hart County and beyond.
The curriculum is designed by The JW Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Georgia and emphasizes the concept of leadership through community action and engagement. Shifting from a reliance on a small group of traditional leaders, communities accept the responsibility of leading together to bring about change and to support common goals.
The curriculum provides tools to explore the complexities of community leadership development and the many ways it can develop, from basic networking to building a community collaborative. Participants learn about their individual leadership styles and how to engage others in leading change around real community issues.
The Leadership Hart program consists of an eight-month curriculum; you will meet one day each month beginning in September. The curriculum includes a two-day leadership retreat at UGA’s Fanning Institute at the beginning of the program on August 9-10; community activities; reading; and small-group discussions. Tuition is $350.
Applications are a competitive process and are due June 1. Selected participants will be notified by July 1.
